Acupressure was developed in China over 5000 years ago and is a form of treatment that restores/regulates the "chi" (energy) and circulation of blood in the body through applying gentle pressure to specific points along the different meridian lines (energy channels) in the body together with the incorporation of massage. Acupressure and acupuncture are based upon the same points and meridians, but acupuncture employs needles whilst acupressure uses gentle but firm touch to specific points on the body whilst intergrating massage therapy techniques.
The general functionality of the body is affected in day to day life by external factors such as stress, disease, weather, pathogens, which in turn affects the meridian systems in the body. Acupressure helps regulate/fine tune the body by opening/closing different meridian lines in the body to eliminate stagnation of energy in particular areas of the body. This change in energy distribution and placement allows the body to produce "chi" distribution more effectively. Through the stimulation of specific points on the body together with the incorporation of massage, acupressure treatment can help release muscular tension, increase circulation, release of toxins, flow of endorphins and in turn, help relieve stress.
Each acupressure session is tailored to meet your specific needs and help resolve your personal health, stress or pain issues. The session includes client assessment. Where necessary simple self-help techniques may be provided for use at home.
Acupressure can provide relief from many conditions, for example:
Musculo-skeletal problems and arthritis.
Stress, fatigue, insomnia.
Allergies resulting in conditions such as hay fever and asthma.
Depression and anxiety.
Nausea and digestive disorders.
Headaches and migraines.
High blood pressure.
Women’s health problems.
